Therapy & Support
Lumina Alliance offers a variety of support, including crisis counseling and therapy, to victims and survivors of sexual assault, sexual abuse, or intimate partner violence.
Our therapy services are available to those affected by sexual assault/abuse or intimate partner violence who are ready to begin their healing journey. We offer many different styles of therapy and can accommodate most clients in need. We maintain a focus on safety, empowerment, and healing. We look forward to supporting you as you begin your healing process.
Our clients are adults and children over five years old who have been affected by sexual assault/abuse or intimate partner violence. We see people of all ethnicities, cultures, sexual orientations, genders, and religions. Sometimes we refer people to outside agencies for drug and alcohol counseling when appropriate. If a client has a severe mental health issue, we may refer them to outside agencies for psychiatric care and/or mental health services. We provide individual, couples, and family* therapy. However, if someone has a history of abuse/controlling behaviors, they are not included in couples or family therapy. We do not offer services to offenders at this time.
*Family therapy is offered when appropriate, and on a limited basis.
Our clinical therapy staff consists of Licensed Therapists, Registered Interns, and Therapist Trainees working under a qualified Licensed Clinical Supervisor. All Therapists have completed the 65-hour state-certified training provided by Lumina Alliance.
We have offices in Grover Beach, Paso Robles, and San Luis Obispo. All locations are accessible for all abilities and are also accessible by public transportation. Office hours are 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday. Some support groups take place during evening hours. We are unable to provide therapy services on Saturdays or Sundays.
Client donations for our therapy sessions allow us to maintain our program. Due to our clients’ and supporters’ generosity, we can serve those clients who cannot donate for services.
Individual Therapy includes one-on-one, 50-minute, weekly sessions over a time period necessary for the client to begin their healing process and establish stability.
Group therapy involves one or more therapists working with several people at a time. Group therapy is commonly integrated into a comprehensive treatment plan that also includes individual therapy. Support groups and psychoeducational groups are offered throughout the year in 12-week intervals.
Groups for men, LGBTQIA survivors, adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse, teens, and others may be offered based on interest. Please call the office if you are interested in participating in one of these groups.
When you call for a therapy appointment, you will be asked some questions to begin the process of seeing if our agency is a good fit for you. We may have a “Waiting List” due to overwhelming demand. When you meet with your Therapist, they will help you assess how therapy may help you at this time. After your initial assessment, you and your Therapist will agree upon a course of treatment.
If you are interested in therapy, please call the office or come into one of our office locations during business hours from 9:00 am–5 pm. Visit the contact page for more information. Business Line: (805) 781-6400.
