Program Overview and Impact: Accompaniment & Advocacy- Advocates provide crisis services and support, connect clients with other community agencies, and provide ongoing case management to help clients heal, thrive, and grow. 1,397 total clients served in 2022-23 with more than 17,000 services. $173,017 in direct financial assistance for clients. The graph shows that 178 clients received financial assistance last year, and 215 received financial assistance this year. 21% more clients received financial assistance. 24-hour Crisis and Information Line. Trained advocates provide confidential crisis intervention, support, and referrals to people impacted by sexual and intimate partner violence. All calls are confidential. Volunteers and staff provided 2,853 hours of support on the crisis line. 2,189 calls for help were answered. $96,780 helped 47 clients with housing retention or about $2,000 per client for security deposits, first month's rent, or to maintain rent when income decreased when leaving an abusive relationship for safe housing.
Individual and Group therapy. Licensed Therapists and supervised Associates, and Therapist trainees provide individual, group, and family therapy to children, teens, and adults impacted by sexual and intimate partner violence. 380 clients were provided with 4,800 sessions of therapy. A pie chart illustrates that 25% of therapy clients were kids and teens, and 75% were adults. Prevention & Education. Prevention staff works with community members, youth, and schools throughout the County to address the systemic causes of sexual and intimate partner violence using evidence-based curricula. 1,431 students attended violence prevention presentations. 604 students received sex-education. 39 community organizing meetings held through the Close to Home program. 28 school staff and 28 parents reached. 6 schools had violence prevention programming.
Program Overview & Impact: Housing & Shelter- Emergency Shelters in Paso Robles, Atascadero, and SLO host survivors in safe, confidential locations. Clients of the shelters and their families are offered advocacy, legal services, case management, and therapy. 127 clients lived in emergency shelters, including 51 children. 47% of clients moved into safe housing away from their abuser. Our Transitional Housing program provides temporary housing for individuals and families who are unsheltered or in need of housing as a result of fleeing intimate partner violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and/ or stalking. 39 clients lived in transitional housing, including 23 children. Legal Referrals: Starting February 1, 2023, Lumina Alliance and the San Luis Obispo Legal Assistance Foundation have partnered to bring high-quality, free legal services to survivors of sexual assault, intimate partner violence, and stalking in SLO County. Legal assistance for our clients is now provided by SLOLAF, allowing both organizations to pool resources and continue to provide extensive, wrap-around care for those impacted by power-based violence. SLOLAF assists survivors with deciding what legal action they would or would not like to take., filing for restraining orders, and preparing documents and evidence for court hearings. They can also assist with divorce and child custody cases.
