Lumina Alliance Joins Statewide Push to Protect Victim Services

Jatzibe Sandoval and Jennifer Adams Raised Their Voices for Survivors at the Capitol

On May 20, Lumina Alliance CEO Jennifer Adams and Community Impact & Volunteer Director Jatzibe Sandoval stood on the West Steps of the California State Capitol to advocate for survivors and demand action from lawmakers.

Governor Newsom’s May Revise failed to include funding to sustain critical victim services—turning away from the 46% of Californians who experience crime. This lack of investment endangers the lives of those impacted by sexual assault, domestic violence, child abuse, human trafficking, and other violent crimes.

Jennifer and Jatzibe joined advocates from across the state to urge policymakers to address federal funding shortfalls that put life-saving services at risk.

Looking Ahead: June 5 National Day of Action

On June 5, Lumina Alliance will join advocates across the country for a National Day of Action to demand increased federal funding for domestic and sexual violence services. This coordinated effort is a powerful call to Congress: invest in the lifesaving programs that survivors depend on. Programs are closing, and communities are losing critical support. Survivors cannot wait.
